New lane to ease traffic along Jalan Besar in Seri Kembangan

A proposal to widen a stretch of Jalan Besar in Seri Kembangan will be submitted to Public Works Department (JKR).

The 50m stretch is near the junction of Jalan Besar and Sungai Besi Expressway.

During peak hours and rain, the traffic builds up in Persiaran Serdang Perdana and causes congestion in Jalan Besar.

Seri Kembangan assemblyman Ean Yong Hian Wah visited the site with Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) engineering department officers, councillor Ng Sze Han and Malaysian Highway Authority representatives recently.

Ean Yong said both lanes were congested with motorists waiting to turn right while those who wanted to turn left to head towards Kuala Lumpur often drove onto the pavement to avoid waiting.

“We are proposing to JKR to add another lane here.

“MPSJ will forward the suggestion to JKR in an infrastructure meeting,” he said.

He said the road was classified under Class F — the worst congestion level.

“It can take an hour from Serdang Perdana 5 to reach this junction during a downpour,” he added.
