Serdang folks to get access to Putrajaya highway
Serdang folks can now rejoice as the much-touted access ramp linking the Serdang Equine Park to Maju Expressway will be accessible soon as the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) had issued a notification letter to Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ).
According to the council’s city planning department head Yunos Kashib, LLM has allocated RM10 million to build a full alignment access for motorists heading over to city center and also Putrajaya.
The ramp, which will cost RM70 million, will be built on Jalan Putra Permai in close vicinity to Equine Park’s Jusco.
The new access is expected to relieve traffic congestions along Jalan Putra Permai to Jalan Besar Serdang besides adding another highway option for the local folks.
However, when the issue was deliberated during MPSJ’s monthly full board meeting today, councillor Pooi Weng Keong demanded LLM to submit a development masterplan.
He wants LLM to take concrete actions on the issue since the project has been deferred for nearly two years after Pakatan took over Selangor leadership in 2008.
“We should wait for another month for LLM to appoint a surveyor or come out with a masterplan before we endorse their letter,” he said.
Access road a Federal-State tussle
MPSJ’s acting president Abdullah Marjunid later said the issue is being studied by Selangor Economic Planning Unit (UPEN) as the access’s location will involve Malay reserve lands.
Komunitikini understands that the issue had transpired into a tussle between the Selangor state government and the Federal Government as the latter refused to build the access for Serdang folks who voted for the opposition during the last General Election.
Serdang DAP assemblyman Ean Yong Hian Wah, who is also a state government exco member, responded that his government will not approve any petrol stations along the highway until the access is built.
The expressway concessionaire Maju Holdings Sdn Berhad is yet to get a Certificate of Fitness (CF) for its Seri Kembangan’s rest station.
It remains unclear whether Maju Holdings is making petrol stations and the CF titles the terms to build the access.
The company is bearing the balance RM60 million out of the RM70 million construction cost.

Re: Serdang folks to get access to Putrajaya highway
Is that a good news? Have been years waiting, nothing has been concluded yet. Is that PKR problem, which we might have put our trust wrongly or Is that BN problem, which they play a tricks to pull back the voter. For me, who help to get it going, I will vote the party.
